I'm a freelance journalist, grant writer, editor, blogger, and copywriter. That is to say, I’m a bit of a Renaissance woman in the writing world.
If I had to describe my style in one word, it would be adaptable.
American author Catherine Drinker Bowen once said, “For your born writer, nothing is so healing as the realization that he has come upon the right word.”
I recognize that the right word hinges on a piece’s audience and purpose.
The perfect phrase for a magazine article may not be the perfect phrase for a blog post; that catchy expression on a website may not work in an annual report. For me, there is great joy and satisfaction in playing with language so that the correct message is clearly conveyed to the intended reader.

- As a journalist and blogger, I write mostly about issues of importance to women and their families, informed by my graduate degree in Women's Studies. This runs the gamut from silly (my latest baking blunders) to serious ( how to improve your body image).
- As a grant writer, I craft winning proposals that help nonprofits secure the funding they need to implement their programs and services. Through my experience working with both grant seekers and grant funders, I have honed my ability to demonstrate a funding need, outline a feasible project design, and delineate a plan for evaluating impact.
- As an editor, I focus on helping students improve their academic writing, be it a college admission essay or a master's thesis. Quality academic writing requires high degrees of clarity, succinctness, and precision, which can be difficult to achieve. I help students develop their arguments, present their evidence, and correct their grammatical mistakes in order to present the best paper possible.
- As a copywriter, I write organizational newsletters, e-blasts, websites, brochures, annual reports, appeal letters, and more. My focus is on generating compelling content that achieves strategic and brand goals and truly engages clients and stakeholders.
